Wiki Women

Every day in the news we hear about racism and sexism, people of color shouldn't have positions of power or women not getting the same pay as men in the same positions. Along side that we also see people retaliating against these ideas often time using violence to get their point across. In the article "Student fights harassment with Wikipedia" written by Jef Akst, he talks about a college student named Emily Temple-Wood taking a creative approach to counter harassment. She wrote a Wikipedia page called WikiProject Women scientist, about how angry she was on how there is a lack of knowledge of female scientists. After that she got a lot of hate emails so she decided for each one she received she would write Wikipedia page about a female scientists, white or of color to get the ladies work known. Instead of getting mad and retaliating Emily is doing something good for the cause she believes in. I think everyone should stand up for what they believe in but should take a non-violent approach like hers. The world can be changed with words.
