2016 Technology

The You Tube video “Awesome Top New Technology Cool Gadgets and Inventions”, uploaded by Minds Eye Design, focuses on various technological materials released in 2016 thus far. What was most entertaining about this video was its variety. I appreciated that the video highlighted new, attention-grabbing – products; such as, solar powered iPhone window stick chargers, or the umbrella that forced an air shield around users to protect them from rain. But what gave this video individuality was the attention it gave to technologically relevant child toys – such as the snowball cross-bow. I found this video to be culturally relevant because of the influence the products will have on our culture and what we may already be seeing as a result of their release. For example, the “Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera” could completely alter how we watch our professional sports. Imagine experiencing a football game from the ball’s perspective. Also, because of the video’s attention to changes in children’s technological toys - it puts in perspective how much people of all ages can benefit from technology to some degree. I would have been ecstatic as a kid to receive a snowball cross-bow, and it’s a good technological motivator to get kids outdoors with their friends.
