Environmental implications of electric cars !
This article talks about a law in 1998 that had passed by California and Northeast states requiring cars to be "zero emissions". Although electric cars can reduce the air pollution compared to cars that emit carbon monoxide, and etc, electric cars can be harmful to our environment. This is due to the use of lead-acid batteries. In fact, according to the article," lead is a neurotoxin, causing reduced cognitive function and behavioral problems, even at low levels in the blood." In addition, the power of electric cars can also come from coal-fired power plants to generate electricity which is also the most polluted way to generate power. Moreover, if we compared gasoline and electric cars, we can see how electric cars are expensive, poor in performance, and not a perfect eco-friendly.
