An Oldie But Goodie
The video "Technology - Changes", uploaded on youtube.com by Redon Skikuli, elaborates on the technologic advances that have occurred and how these advancements have affected culture in America; as well as China and India. The message is offered in a factual manner, and I found it to be very efficient in doing so. However, I was apprehensive once I saw that this video was posted in 2008 – talking about Myspace’s popularity was a dead giveaway of the video’s age. However, by the end of the video I found I ended up enjoying the video more because of its age. I still found it pertinent to today because while the data may be outdated its predictions for the future was rather entertaining and I also enjoyed contemplating the diversity in the facts compared to now. For example, one prediction given was that in 2013 a super – computer would be built that would exceed the computational capabilities of the human brain and by 2049 a $1000 computer would be made available that would exceed the computational capabilities of the human species. In 2016 I think it’s safe to say that even our phones may exceed our brain’s computational capabilities … or there’s an app that can. Overall, I found this video resourceful and fun to compare. Another attribute of this video I found pleasant was the author’s talent to state facts without bias. Throughout the video I never felt the author was trying to be pro – technology or anti – technology but rather just informative for the audience.
