Is work place culture being changed by technology

In the YouTube video "How is technology changing our workplace culture", Charles Leadbeater questions if the advancements in technology are making humans more productive or just inefficient. In this video, Mr. Leadbeater shares his prediction about what is going to happen when technology takes the place of the manual labor jobs. I got the impression that Leadbeater thinks that we are not going forward as a culture, but instead that we are going backwards because of the effect technology has on us. New technology is going to come in and displace human activity. Where is that going to leave the millions of people who lose their jobs because there is a new technology that can do the job faster?. He questions things like "is it a need to check your emails or is it your phone reminding you to check your emails". In my opinion, there are always going to be pros and cons to every new technology but its from those pros and con that we make the technology better. Despite what people are saying, technology is good for our world. New technology means new breakthroughs in science and other discoveries. There is always something out there that is bad for our health and technology can't be the worst for us ... right?
